MEMBERSHIP

Membership in the ALA is free and individual.

Regular member

Is eligible as a regular member any organisation which:

• is Located in Africa

• operates games of chance and / or skill such as Lotto, Toto, traditional lotteries, horse bets, sports bets, sports lotteries, instant games and, in general, all the lotteries whatever are the technical or commercial means implemented to exploit them.

• is licensed or has a license from the competent authority,

• its volume of annual sales of games constitutes the major part of the total revenue of the organization and whose net income is attributed for the most part as a public decision, to good causes and / or the budget of the 'State.

 

Associate member

Is eligible as an associate member any person or organization providing or intending to provide goods or services to regular members or associate members.

Associate members may participate in some events organized by the Association, especially as exhibitors during the meetings of the association. They have no right to vote or to decide.

 

Acquisition of membership

 

Application form

 

Any application should be sent to ALA accompanied by documents demonstrating the actual existence and in compliance with laws of the company.

 

The application consists of:

 

  1. For regular members

 

  • "Membership application" to be filled in by the applicant company, in the form provided for that purpose by the ALA and attached to the annex of internal regulations (Annex 1)
  • The statutes of the company showing that it operates a monopoly working in the lottery; a license or concession of African States.
  • The last activity report,
  • The ethics charter signed by the company.  (Appendix 2).

 

  1. For associate members

 

  • "Membership application" to be filled in by the applicant company, in the form provided for that purpose by the ALA and attached to the annex of internal regulations (Annex 1)
  • The statutes of the company showing that it operates a monopoly, a license or concession of African States, working in the lottery
  • The last activity report,
  • The ethics charter signed by the company.  (Appendix 2).
  • The recommendation of two regular members.

 

Processing of applications

The Secretary General processes applications and submits them to the Executive Committee for decision of acceptance or rejection.

The membership rejection need not be substantiated.

Admission acceptance decisions are communicated by letter from the President to the future members.

Accession takes effect from the date of the letter’s signature by the president if he notifies the admission, and the annual fee made payable under the year of the current financial year and that, whatever the date takes effect from the accession of candidate.

The fee is to be paid within two weeks of acceptance.

The Association reserves the right to verify and monitor, personally or by others at any time, the member’s abidance by the criteria and conditions for admission to the Association as determined by the statutes and the current internal regulations.

 

Commitment to participation in the work of the association

Any member, and in particular all new members, is committed to the extent of its competence and available time, to participate in the work of the association and contribute to the functioning of the association and its influence.

In a more general way, each member undertakes to be reactive when asked for in any way whatsoever.

 

Sanction

In case of non-compliance with any provision of the charter of the Association, the Executive Committee may order the cancellation of the member concerned. It shall inform the other members of the Association without having to specify the reasons for the decision.

 

Membership loss

Resignation

Any Member may resign from the Association by giving six (6) months minimum, notified in writing, but remains responsible for any due amount of money and any obligations until the effective date of his resignation.

 

Suspension and expulsion of members

The Executive Committee may decide to suspend or terminate any Member who:

  • fails to pay contributions due for membership for two successive years,
  • fails to comply with the statutes or acts in a manner prejudicial to the interests of the Association or its members and therefore is no longer qualified to remain a Member,
  • fails to provide, in time, the data from its lottery to the General Secretariat of the Association.

 

The Member subject to exclusion or suspension is not allowed to vote.

 

1. CONTRIBUTIONS

 

The amount of the annual fee fixed by the General Assembly is

 

Regular Member

10.640 euros

Associate Member

10.640 euros

 

According to Article 31 of the association’s statute, contributions of regular members and associate members of the Association must be paid before 31 of March each year maximum.
